2009 Training Camp Preview

Monday August 3rd 2009 is when the New York Football Giants will officially begin their journey towards the Super Bowl. There are many lingering questions as training camp has come upon us. Below are the questions and answers I have for this years training camp

A. What will the Wide Receiver core look like?
1. Steve Smith - Smith is clearly the Giants best receiver, enough said.
2. Hakeem Nicks - I know he is only a rookie, but with his hands and athletic ability there is no reason that Nicks shouldn't start at some point during the season.
3. Mario Manningham - Plenty of upside and ability to make plays in this league
4. Sinorice Moss - Will take advantage of his final shot to stay on this team and he will beat out an aging David Tyree who can't contribute as a receiver in the way the Giants need.
5. Domenik Hixon - A solid receiver that is even more valuable as a KR or PR. Right now he doesn't have what it takes to be a #1 or #2. He may have a shot as a slot receiver.
6. Ramses Barden - Raw talent with great upside. He will play situationally this season.

B. Who will win the #2 running back spot?
Ahmad Bradshaw - It is plain and simple he has proven he can make plays in this league. He came up big in the playoffs in '07 against the Bucs and was the leading rusher as well in the Super Bowl. Even as the third RB last season he flashed his dynamic ability. Andre Brown and Danny ware will battle for the third spot. Which I believe Brown will win.

C. Will Osi Umenyora bounce back and return to his old form?
YES!!!

D. Can Bill Sheridan replace Steve Spagnuolo?
Yes, Sheridan is familiar with the defensive system and the players that are used to execute it. He will be fine since many times he worked closely with Spags in helping him make play calling decisions on critical downs.

Please leave any comments below. There will be at least 2 posts a week once training camp starts.
