Five Reasons Eli Got Paid
I will start off by saying that I agree with everyone who says that Eli Manning's stats show that he is going to be overpaid once his new contract kicks in, in 2010. Below I have listed five reasons why he deserves the big payday.
1. Super Bowl XLII MVP - Yes you can say that the defense won the game for the Giants since they shut down the greatest offense of all time (statiscialy). But, how many qb's in the NFL can lead their team down the field in the last 2 minutes of the most watched sporting event in the world and throw the game winning touchdown? Not more than maybe a few.
2. 41-23 Record last 4 seasons (reg season) - Plain and simple Eli knows how to win games. His career record shows it.
3. 4 straight seasons with a playoff birth - I believe only 3-4 teams have done this over the past four seasons
4. 4 quarter comebacks - I read a stat last season that Eli has rallied the Giants out of a fourth-quarter hole to either take the lead or tie the game an amazing 16 times. Eleven times the comeback has resulted in a win. Not many QB's can overcome that pressure and lead their team to a victory.
5. Bad memory - You might askwhy is this a good thing. If you think about Eli's career when he has a really bad game, for example the 4 INT loss to the Vikings during the '07 season. He was able to bounce back and win key games in Chicago and Buffalo to lead the Giants into the playoffs and to a Super Bowl championship.
Chime in below with your thoughts.
