Outside the Blue: Week 5
Starting today, every Tuesday I will post an article looking back at the NFL week that has just closed. This is the first article of the season.
Week 5 Impressions
- The Bengals and Broncos continue to prove that they are legit contenders for at least a division title. As the season rolls on it will be interesting to see if both teams can stay on a winning course.
- The 49ers got a huge wake up call after getting ripped 45-10 by the Atlanta Falcons. They are a young team that will be ok. They needed a wake up call. All young teams do at one time or another.
- Big OT win for the Cowboys, but it shouldn’t take OT to beat the Chiefs. And is it really necessary to elebrate like you won a playoff game?
- Redskins blew a 17-2 lead over the Panthers to lose. I hope Jim Zorn enjoys his last season as an NFL head coach, because it is over after week 17. Time for the Skins to blow the roster up and start over.
- The New York Jets are a really good team but their offense needs to mature a lot more before they will consistently be a big time team. After losing to the Saints and Dolphins its time to look in the mirror and see who you are. Which is a borderline playoff team and nothing more right now.
- The bottom teams in the NFL are really awful
- New York Giants
- New Orleans Saints
- Indianapolis Colts
- Minnesota Vikings
- Denver Broncos
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Atlanta Falcons
- Chicago bears
- Pittsburgh Steelers
