Preseason Week 4 Preview at New England Patriots

When: Thursday September 3rd @ 7:30pm WNBC

These two teams meet almost every preseason. This game won't be any more meaningful then any of the others since it is the fourth and final preseason game. There isn't anything to look for in regards to the starters. But, there will be a lot to pay attention to in regards to players trying to make the team. Here is my rundown of the what players & positions to be on the look out for.

David Carr - One of the most important positions is back up quarterback and this will be Carr's opportunity to get his last series of game reps for now.

Andre Woodson vs. Rhett Bomar - The past two drafts the Giants have drafted a QB late in the draft and these two guys will be battling for the third and final spot on the depth chart. I believe Bomar has a lot more upside and is more polished and will win this battle.

Final Wide Receiver Spot - I don't believe the Giants will keep a seventh receiver at this time. So there will only be a sixth and final spot at receiver that will be open. It will come down to David Tyree, Derek Hagan and Sinorice Moss. Tyree most likely won't get it since he is once again injured and he may have passed his prime. I really like Moss but over the last few seasons I have never seen a way for the Giants to use him. It just seems like because of the kind of player he is, there isn't any room for him on this team. I really thought Moss would break out this season. Hagan has had a great camp and would provide great depth for the Giants. In the end I see Hagan winning the final spot at wide receiver.

Defensive Line - I expect the Giants to IR Jay Alford. It will be interesting to see who can claim his spot. Also who will be the fourth defensive end? Will it be Maurice Evans or Dave Tollefson?

Gerris Wilkinson - Just like Sinorice Moss, Gerris Wilkinson is on his last strike as well when it comes to providing production for the Giants. Wilkinson so far may have played well enough to stick around for another season.

Final Cornerback Spot - This will come down to Bruce Johnson and DeAndre Wright. So far from what I have heard Bruce Johnson is the favorite to win this spot.

Final Safety Spot - The battle is down to Travonti Johnson, Sha’reff Rashad, & Vince Anderson. I believe at this point Johnson has the lead. We will have to wait and see who is left at end of the week.
